Hohewarte Hike

Join us for a scenic hike at Hohewarte, an exciting and beautiful adventure just 45km from Windhoek.

The trail is not clearly marked, and the grass has overgrown most of the path. This is a fun hike through varied terrain, including river sand and rocks. Along the way, we’ll encounter stunning stone formations and beautiful views.

What to expect:

A relatively easy start to the hike
Climbing through fences (please be prepared)
Walking on river sand for a stretch, with a short bit over rocky riverbeds
Walking up a Kuppe (a small hill or rise, typical in Namibia’s landscape)
No very high elevations on this trail
The hike is 9km long and will take around 4 hours depending on the fitness level of the group. We’ll take a break along the way with coffee and treats to keep us energized!

Important notes:

Long trousers and gaiters are highly recommended due to thorns and other natural obstacles along the trail.
Bring your own water, hiking stick, extra snacks for energy, hat, and sunscreen.

Fee: N$300 per person (includes a break with coffee and treats)

Location: Approximately 45km from Windhoek on C23 towards Dordabis at Farm Hohewarte. Vehicles will enter the premises together, with parking on the left of the guest farm (please note: we do not enter the guest farm itself). Low-clearance vehicles are not recommended, as there is a hump that you’ll need to drive over to reach the parking area.
